DESCRIPTION:
EPW - John Roger Arnold, London, ruby cylinder with Prest's keyless winding and bi-metallic compensation curb, silver OF original consular case bearing London hallmarks, date marking indistinct with wear but appears possibly for 1807, casemaker's "T H" marking in cameo, cream colored enamel dial, SW with Prest's mechanism, ruby cylinder escapement, bi-metallic compenation curb to hairspring, gilt mvt, s#30 with matching serial number within case. An excellent example of this rare early keyless watch with crown turning in the reverse direction and with no provision for forward coast or for setting mechanism; in total a bit over 200 John Roger Arnold movements of this design with Prest's winding were produced. CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, patch of fine scratches or abrasion at perimeter of plate adjacent winding wheel, some scattered fine and micro-fine scratches elsewhere; dial with perimeter hls between 2 and 3 as well as between 6 and 8; excellent hands; case shows light wear, an attractive dark patina, small dent to lower rear perimeter, some scattered small nicks; bow pivots freely, crown shows medium wear; good glass crystal.
